GASTRONOMY and CULINARY ARTS

Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department is located in Tuzla-Orhanlı campus.

The language of instruction in our department is Turkish.

The education of our department is 4 years (8 semesters).

In order to be a student in our department, you can make your choices with the ''verbal score'' taken from the Higher Education Institutions Exam.

In 2023, the general quota of our department is 54 people. The base score of our department was 381,51239 and the success ranking was 42.196.

There is a compulsory internship (Workplace Training) for 60 working days in the  Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department.

Students admitted to undergraduate programs are enrolled by the Department of Student Affairs (DSA) on the dates specified on the academic calendar. After your registration, you can access the Student Affairs Information System (ÖBS) with the password given to you by the DSA and access your course schedule.

There are many private dormitories close to the Orhanlı Campus where our faculty is located. In addition, our university has many private dormitories close to Kartal Cevizli Campus, including the dormitories of the Credit and Hostels Institution. In addition, the 95-person capacity (https://medeniyetkizyurdu.com/), which is owned by our university and located in Kartal Soğanlık, has been rented on the basis of service purchase, and services are provided by the relevant company within this scope. 15% discount is applied to our students in the dormitory.

Food Stipends

Each year, all students benefit from food facilities with a 80 % discount while 60 students enjoy 100 % food stipend.

Beginning from the second year, you will make your course registrations yourself, together with your advisor, from Student Affairs Information System (ÖBS). You can complete your course registration with your advisor.

Elective courses of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department are designed to follow each other in order to enable our students to specialize according to their interests and career plans. In this sense, you can make your course choices according to your interests by getting help from your advisor.

Similarly, you can choose courses according to your interests from the elective course pool of the faculty and/or university.

No. You can take it again within 3 semesters following the period in which the course was taken. After this period, you cannot take it again. This rule does not apply in the following cases:

• Those whose GPA value is below 1.80.
• Those who have a passing grade in all courses for graduation but have a GPA below 2.00.

You are expected to submit the excuse petition and the health report, if any, to the teacher of the course as soon as possible.

Taking 240 credit / hour (ECTS) courses in 8 semesters of undergraduate education in order to graduate from the program; In food and beverage businesses that have Tourism Management Certificate, they have to do a workplace training (internship) for 75 working days.

In accordance with the Undergraduate Education Examination Regulations of our university, you are obliged to attend 70% of theoretical courses and 80% of applied courses such as laboratories and workshops. Absent students cannot take the final / year-end and make-up exams. The period in which the students are reported is counted in the absence period in applied courses. Follow-up of absenteeism is done by the lecturer of the course.

A student is entitled to take a supplementary exam for a single course if the student has successfully completed all courses of the program they are enrolled in until the last academic semester/year, if they have fulfilled the requirements of the program and have obtained an overall grade point average of 2.00 or above. The student who requests to take the supplementary exam files a petition to the relevant department. The supplementary exam is held at the end of the academic semester/year on a date determined by the relevant department following the retake exams.
